Up&Down...

It seems that I am not alone this morning in thinking that the weekend flew by, as this feeling is currently being complained about by more than half my colleagues.

I left work a little early on Friday to meet P, who was coming to James Street Station this time instead of me going over to Lime Street. I couldn’t wait to be out of the office and for the 2 week absence from each other to be finally over. I dashed down the tunnel into the station (refurbishment works still going on in the main station so no lifts!) to round the corner at the bottom and run over to him for a big hug :)  Wasn’t quite the big reunion though, as James Street Station is manky, busy and our train was due in. I’ve never been so happy to see anyone in my life though, and things like the fact he’d had his hair cut and looked different only made it feel even longer since the last time we saw each other.

Neither of us can remember where Friday night went, so I have to skip that! Saturday we went to Manchester to play D&D at Dave’s. It was a good day, though Rich’s absence was noticeable. Everyone was in a good mood for once though, so we had a lot of laughs and we’re all looking forward to the next session in a month’s time. I’ve discovered since Saturday that Rich has some money-woes, which were the reason for him not coming. Having heard the details, I can’t really make up my mind as to whether I’m sympathetic or not, so best not to comment really.

Sunday me and P went off to Ikea to have a nosy at potential shiny things for September. I had to feign shock at the discovery that P has an opinion on the crockery and cutlery, seeing if I could provoke him into indignation over the implication that I have sole dominion over interior design choices ;) It was actually nice to get a reaction beyond ‘it’s a plate, I eat off it, I don’t care what colour it is’ and even better that we agreed on most things. (Other than that lamp, don’t get me started on the ugly lamp!).

Anyhow, we came away with the one item I went in for and a modest (for me!) 3 candles, plus a slightly better understanding of each other’s preferences about colour scheme and design. And for my part, the knowledge that P has bad taste in lighting…

Saying goodbye at the station last night was as hard as ever, probably worse because the length of ‘apartness’ relative to the length of the weekend meant that I really didn’t want him to go. When his train pulled away I felt like there was a big rock in my tummy and when I got in, part of me just wanted to go straight to bed and sleep until Friday. I miss him so much :(

As for today, it came around far too quickly and is not going well (mostly due to the colleague who wants everyone to work to her timetable, irrespective of what else they might have on), so I just want to be at the point where I can head home as soon as possible.
