I have not been to a primary care physician since I lost my previous job five years ago. While I have been having problems, off and on, with muscle spasms in various parts of my body, usually I could lessen them with various otc pain relievers, ointments and/or heating pads. Lately, it has been getting worse, particularly in my left thigh. And recently a spot on the left side of my back that I can only reach with my thumb if I bend my arm and hand just so. It feels like I am being stabbed with a knife for several seconds, then the knife is removed. A minute or so later, the stabbing pain returns etc. An 800 mg Motrin that a coworker gave me and an extra strength Tylenol finally made it go away...for a while, enough to get me through my work shift. It returned after I got home from work so I took some motrin pms and a tylenol and it went away again. Hasn't returned yet *crosses fingers it doesn't* but they have caused me to lose a great deal of sleep so today I finally found a doctor and made an appointment for next week. Yay.
