I think I can actually get my car fixed. The problem now is finding someone to do it. Finding someone who can say with certainty, "Yes, this is the problem and no, it won't cost (an additional) $500 {more than what you've finally managed to save so far}".
I had two certified mechanics look at it. One said, "You need all of these hoses replaced, they are old and worn." The other said, "No, there is nothing wrong with the hoses, they look fine. However, now one of the fans isn't working & it could be one of two things {insert diagnosis here}.
And there is everyone else.
Them: What's wrong?
Me: I can't go more than 3 miles and then the temperature guage overheats and then begins to stall out. And there is oil in the antifreeze reservoir.
Them: Oh, my car did the exact same thing. It's the {insert problem here}.
So far I've had about 10 people tell me it's 10 different things.
Yeah, I know. While their solutions are each much cheaper, at that point I would probably have to just replace the radiator, reservoir, and, you know, pretty much everything else under the hood.
Also? About a week a ago I noticed the gas cap was missing. No, it doesn't have the little "door" that covers it. I slapped some duct tape on it for now.
