Fire?

Things you probably should not do when the fire alarms in your room flash and sound:

1. Go up to them and see if there is any way to turn them off.

2. Peep outside thinking you will find a clue out there as to why they went on.

3. Inspect them more closely to see if there really isn't some way to at least make the high pitch beeping noise stop first.

4. Hide anything that could be misconstrued as illegal in your coat pockets (this should have been #1) which you eventually plan on putting on if you really have to go outside for any long period of time.

5. Step outside, see some neighbors and confer with them.

6. Confirm the alarms are, in fact, on in neighboring rooms.

7. Go back inside and again inspect the alarms for an on/off switch/other means of disabling it.

8. Stand just inside the door of your room looking out wondering if you should put your coat on, grab the cat, purse, computer and as much liquor as you can carry and stay outside.

For the record, the motel is all ground level and every room door is direct outside to the parking lot access.

Eventually the alarms went off, I stepped outside again and someone called out from near the office/vending/laundry machines room that it was a false alarm, someone had pulled the alarm on accident.

Went back inside in time to catch the reruns of Leverage being shown on TNT.
