Murphy-ed Music

On Friday morning, Father Don asked Uvulae to sing at some Katrina-related gathering at the end of the month. Short notice is always bad, but it was made much worse by the fact that we don't own any music at all. (It was all lost in the flood). After thinking long and hard about what was appropriate, affordable and crowd-pleasing, I bought four pieces online. They'll get here at the end of the week, but that was the best and fastest thing I could do. Of course, spending all this money on music and shipping only served to summon the one piece of music I had spent all summer trying to get.
I've *finally* gotten the Toons' arrangement of Tonic's "If You Could Only See," and the best part is that I got it for free! The arranger felt guilty about taking so long to get back to me that she gave it to me for free. All I have to do is send the PDF to my little darlings, and then we should be able to start rehearsals this week.
More recently, I've been interested in getting the Octopodes' arrangement of Evanescence's "Bring Me to Life." I started making enquiries last night, and got a response today. Lots of e-mailing back and forth ensued, and then the business manager agreed to give it to me for a third of the cost! While it is still pricey, I think it will be worth it.
But back to work. The studying is never done.
