A year or two before Ruby/Sapphire came out, I got Pokemon Diamond and Jade as a birthday present. As in, those bootleg versions of the first Telefang game, complete with glitches and the hilarious translation where "Shigeki" turned into "MR.BEK", "T-Fanger" became "Mildew t." and the villains express desires like opening a curry store or becoming a woman.
I completed them, too. Well, Diamond/Speed, at least. Figured out they weren't real Pokemon games as soon as I looked at the back of the boxes, but I didn't find anything particularly wrong with them other than that. Not even with characters spouting lines like "Shit! Remember it!" all over the place. You know, at the age of eight or nine.
And you know what I think? Although some of the emonsters/denjuu are incredibly ugly, some of the others are downright cooler than the actual D/P pokes. Like, just compare Bargiers or Zinunas to something like Bibarel.
...I should replay them. I kind of liked them.
