so drove out to serpentine yesterday. again, blitz was lying down way over in the corner of the paddock. he clamboured up and headed over to see me. i LOVE how he screams his head off when he sees me! it's so... idk, loving.
anyway.

prognosis: foot sore & possibly a bit of laminitis.
treatment: front shoes, bute for 10 days, ditch the muesli (grain mix) from his feed, halve the amount of Lucerne (alfalfa) chaff from his feed too.
She flexion tested him - quite harshly, i might add, and he was sore, but not dramatically so after the test. she said if his arthritis were giving him that much trouble, he'd be REALLY sore - reluctant to trot out, reluctant to be flexion tested.
so, that's a pretty good prognosis, IMO.
she said that losing a bit of weight would be good for him - we don't want skinny, but as he's already a big, broad horse, dropping a bit of weight would be good for his feet.
so yeah. dealable.
