coming deep. she doesn't work consistently, of course.

Lesson Notes

- FIRM outside rein & inside leg
- give as much as possible with inside rein - do not JAB but give.
- SHORT reins. it's glaringly obvious when my reins get too long, i get crotch hands, which changes my center of gravity & pivots me forward.
- longer stirrups! carly likes them long. i like them a bit defensive, haha.
- FIRM half halts when she jogs or doesn't respond accordingly. LOTS of 10m circles & figures of 8 to get her using her hind end. leg yield out of the 10m back onto the larger circle.

after the 2 hour bush ride yesterday, i could REALLY feel what carly means when she talks about how my saddle pivots you back at the hips. it's got such a low cantle. i'm looking forward to seeing how i ride in a different saddle.

she was lovely on the bush ride, but started to do this jogging bullshit. it was okay tho, she was SAFE. it was just jogging. every now and then she does this evasive sort of body shake & it's hard enough to really unbalance you. she was doing it A LOT on the way home. she also liked to back up a bit when we were meant to be stationary, so some manners need to be installed there.

overall, not at all bad for an endurance pony. might think about taking her to some shows next year.
