ihrayne linked this in her journal & i think it's very poignant and sad.

so i have a summer job cooking at a camp school for special needs kids. some of them are quite high order, some not. i cook for everybody, not just the kids tho. Carly is the service manager there & is DYING for staff so i'm like, "eh... it's money". i did it last school holidays & again this week. she needs someone for the 18-22 Jan and i prob will do it. money is money and it's not a bad job at all. surrounded by nice people who pretty much eat whatever you dish up. it can get a bit messy tho. :(
i made a big faux pas last night tho & locked the kitchen when i left. turns out no body on grounds has a key... which is awkward as breaky is at 8am & the farm guy (who has a key) doesn't get there till 8ish... o well, i'll see tonight if it was a YOOOOGE drama or not.

it does eat into my pony tyme in the evenings tho as it goes from 3-9pm or so, so at the moment i've been running about trying to get ppl to feed both beejay and beni (as kelli is also working extra evening hours at the bottle shop in her summer). ah well.

so beejy has *really* had a break from me. i haven't ridden since december 6th or so & i've barely played with him or anything. he's gone from growling at me when i go near to calling out as soon as my car rolls up (he's very moody like that!). i am basically just pulling him out of the paddock every now and then to have a hose down when it's hot or to wash his mouth out. i think it's good.
i went and saw him yesterday during my break from work (i worked 9-9!!! jesus christ) as it's just down the road & took him for a hose down (it was like 40 frigging degrees yesterday for fuck's sake!). and he was all YOWCHY on his back on the sore part. FUCK. maybe it was just the cold water (he's quite sensitive to that) but when i touched in certain ways he was yowchy. but then when i ran my fingers along his spine using a LOT of pressure he wasn't sore at all??? no idea.

so prob needs another massage from kelli. i'll also see what the saddle fitter (and masseuse!) says when she comes on thursday.

speaking of, i am torn about whether i should spend an extra $65 and get my second saddle fitted. i REALLY want both saddles fitted but if i could have a preference i'd go with my dressage because ultimately i want to do showing & it's just not the done thing to do it in an all purpose. BUT we all know that for some reason beejay HATES dressage saddles - different styles, fitted, leather/synthetic whatever, he usually copes for 1 or so rides & then starts getting humpy. eh, we'll see what the fitter says. she's very reputable & comes with a long list of recommendations so hopefully she'll save us!

today my friend liz is coming over & we are going to watch The Lovely Bones. i just re-read the book & again was PISSED at the ending. it was so long ago that i read it, i didn't remember that i got pissed off... but when i read it, it all came back to me. i passed out on the couch the other night when jed was watching it, but awoke in time to see about 2mins of the ending. jed was not impressed, to say the least. we'll see. i guess the POINT is not the crime but the relationships.

speaking of good movies, i watched Up in the Air last night (well most of it - fell asleep before the end), and i LOVE it. george clooney is ALL SORTS of gorgeous in that. i must admit i have never had a real thing for him, tho i can certainly see the attraction... but BY GOD i was quivering during close ups of his beautiful big brown eyes. *GAH!*

he is just completely fucking adorable in that movie. very charismatic & natural. i just saw now that it's by the same guy who did Juno... which says a lot. seems he can get a lot out of his actors. and i like the quick, sharp cuts & editing. very very nice! vera farmiga is also completely fucking hot & i don't recall seeing her before. GREAT body!!! wish i could look like that.

oh, and bonus!!! jason Bateman sporting a beard... what more could you want?

and along these lines, am super looking forward to Fantastic Mr Fox. i can still remember the first time i read that book - i think it might be one of my earliest memories of actually reading a book - by myself & being devoured whole by it. reminds me A LOT of my childhood.

reading was very much encouraged in my house whilst growing up. so was nana-napping, which is great.

even now my dad and i will sit around reading instead of talking. we trade books a lot too, tho he has started reading a lot of non-fiction "how to make your first million" type books which is very off-putting.

books i have great memories of actually reading:
1. Flambards, by KM PEyton: i think this is one of the first books i stayed up all night to read. i lay on the couch outside as the sun rose & it was awesome. then trundled off to school.
2. Dear Fred, by KM Peyton: i think i was sick when i read this but it left a huge impact.
3. ... a dean koontz novel that i can't remember the name of! again, stayed up all night to read.
4. Jaws by Peter Benchley. this book was GOLD. we all read it in my Yr 7 class & it was passed around like porn! the swearing & the gruesomeness of it was something we'd never seen before.
5. Laura Palmer's Secret Diary - i was obsessed with this girl BEFORE Twin Peaks even came out thanks to this novel which i picked up for like $5 at the grocery store. think this started my obsession with naughtiness!
6. The exorcist - can't remember who wrote it, but it blew my 11yo mind at the time & was NOTHING like anything i'd ever read before.

i used to have a 2km walk to the bus stop where i lived & i would trundle along with my backpack on & book in my hands. i was a very good read&walk type of girl, lol. nice memories of eucalyptus & sunshine through shadows and the QUIET of the country.

anyways.

gotta get moving.
