Hehe. My first class for the semester was cancelled (Journalism - television) because the tutor is away, so a few of my journo buddies and I went and had some wines/vodkas - at 1.30pm! How odd! The rainclouds are pouring their hearts out and it's cold and windy outside, so I plan on remaining indoors, watching Skins (new favourite show/obsession)...sounds like heaven right about now. Except for the fact that I have to set up the four (yes, FOUR) online blogs I have to keep all semester as a journalism assignment. I barely handle having a livejournal!

Anyway, uni aside, I ticked off one of the items on my Lifetime To-Do List on Saturday - I went whale watching! It cost me my groceries for the week, but I have been obsessed with whales and dolphins since I can remember so I felt it was justifiable. We caught a boat from Darling Harbour and headed out to sea, south of Sydney (off Maroubra/Yellow Rock, I think). The swell was massive and really choppy, so everybody was seasick within an hour of up-and-down bobbing! There was a pod of bottlenose dolphins following us on the way out, riding the waves and jumping about infront of the boat and being very acrobatic in general. This caused a bit of squealing on my behalf. Then after about two hours we finally reached the whales - two humpbacks - who were migrating up north (I think...can't remember what the guy said), and we sorta followed them about for a bit. They kept coming to the surface for a look, blowing air and slapping their tails on the water. I know it sounds so obvious, but they were just so...huge! Such magnificent animals. I don't know how anybody could ever fire a harpoon at one, it's beyond cruel. Anyway, I was a little disappointed, because the captain said that the day before the boat had followed a baby/teenaged humpback, and for two whole hours it breached (jumped out of the water)!!! Jealous! Oh well. Still amazing. I was really not well though :(
