David Rovics in Heidelberg

David Rovics, one of America's most prolific left-wing singer-songwriter, has another gig in Heidelberg. And it's next week already, but I guess nobody is surprised by this given my lackluster blogging efforts.

David has written a large number of really good, thoughtful songs, most of which you can get for free here. My favourites are I'm a better Anarchist than You, John Brown, Black Flag Flying, The Commons and Saint Patrick's Batallion. If you like a good side of history, humor and self-deprecation with your folk guitar and vocals, you'll like David. He has some pretty provocative songs in his repertoire, too, so don't come if you are extremely thin-skinned, especially if you are thin-skinned and neo-liberal or neo-con ... or a better anarchist than the rest of the audience.

The venue is at Richard-Wagner-Str. 6, which is just next to the OEG stop Kapellenweg in Handschuhsheim. Don't be surprised by it being in an apartment block. That's the common room of the Prisma multi-generation house. The date is the Sunday the 28th of April. If things turn out the same way as last time, admission will be 10 € and doors open over an hour before 8 p.m. (which I guess will be the start of the show). You will get a chance to buy some drinks, too.
