Day 2
Hey everyone that's right today is day 2 and I have some really good news for you but you have to read to the end to find it out. :) For breakfast I had french toast and sausage patties, and then we went to the down town lounge where we did another juno walk. Then after the walk and we had come back to the school we had a lecture by Jim Kuch (I hope I am spelling that right) The president of the seeing eye. It was more of a meeting really than a lecture but still it was very good and informative however most of us were just waiting for it to get over so we could go to lunch and then on to the fun part of the day "GETTING OUR DOGGIES!!!" So for lunch I had a ham and cheese sandwich with potato chips and then I went back to my room to wait and wait and wait in eager anticepation to meet my new partner. Thanfully my instructor finally came and brought be to the mens lounge with my leash where I met my new dog Indio! Indio is a Lab Golden Retriever cross although he takes more from the Lab then the Golden. He is black and much to my surpise and possibly slight dismay he is rather small. After I put my leash on his collar I heeled him back to my room where we spent some one on one time trying to get to know each other he opened this up by jumping all over me and licking my face from one end to the other However when the trainer left the room this was quickly replaced by mournful wining and even some howling like sounds and a few barks. he did this all while laying at the door either trying to get out or just waiting in mournful anticipation of the return of my trainer. After a period of time my trainer came back and I put the harness on Indio and we went for our first walk on harness with each other around the leisure path. He did a rather good jub although i am going to need a longer harness handle because I am so tall and Indio is so short. After this walk we went back to the room for some more one on one where he plopped down on the floor not wining this time thankfully. we spent some time with each other me laying on the floor with him although as soon as I moved he would jump up and be back to licking my face. Then he got restless and strained at his leach so that I was sitting in the chair and he was as far away as he could be from me back at the door agains starting to make sounds I associated with someone who was really constapated. I know it's not pretty but that just gives you an idea of some of the mournfulness coming from him. Well then I put him on Tie down to go to the restroom and then it was food time for Mr Indio so I went and got his food and set it down for him while I went and got his two cups of water. Once he was done eating and drinking I took him outside for his first park time, however he failed to fullfill his duty leaving neither a number two nor a number one. So better luch in a half an hour or so when we go out again. After Park time it was soon dinner time where I had pork tenderloins roasted potatoes and strawberry sorbe and sugar cookies for desert. Oh did I forget to mention I had banana carmel pie for desert at lunch time yummy. After dinner we had a grooming lesson and I got quite a bit of hair off of him and then we went up to the mens lounge and had a lesson on the gentle leader. Now I am down here in the basement on the computer typing this out to you all by myself save for Indio calmly resting at my side.
