Oooh, I'd only heard about this movie in passing (I'm not a movie person, I very very rarely indulge myself in watching a movie) but there was a time when I was a pre-teen when I was really interested in King Henry the 8th (I used to be a history buff, but high school history turned me right off unfortunately) so I'll definitely have to check out this movie. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. :):) Lemme know what you think of the book, cos I might check that out too.
I think history buffs will have a heart attack when watching this film. It's better to go into the movie know it's FICTION that uses real people. Like they made Mary the younger sister when I read she's in fact the older sister. Also, they took rumors and made them into possible truths - like in real life Mary had a son that people said was Henry's son even though it was never confirmed, but in the movie he was turned into Henry's ACTUAL son. After seeing this movie I do want to find out more about English royals - and to be more specific - Queen Elizabeth I. I actually want to rent the Cate Blanchette movie now.
History is one of the most interesting subjects, I think.
I'm not surprised, they do those sorts of things in lots of historical movies, but since I'm not so interested in history anymore, it doesn't bother me. I mostly just find those sorts of movie fascinating. It's hard to know what's really true anyway, since history is so often skewered even outside of movies and whatnot. People tend to like to cover up their messes and scandals where they can.
