I've been looking forward to this movie for a while and it did not disappoint. The costumes were great and the actors were too. At first I wondered why British actresses weren't casted, but Natalie/Scarlett did a fine job.
I kept going back and forth between thinking Anne deserved to be beheaded and thinking she didn't deserve it. In the beginning where she's such a conniving bitch towards her sister, I was like "eh she deserves what she gets." But then at the end when she's so desperate to have a son, when Henry (that bastard) raped her (that was not expected) I was like "oh, poor Anne." Then when she was about to get her head cut off I was actually very impressed with Natalie's acting and that's never really happened before - esp in SW Ep III where some of her scenes were abysmal.
I felt super sorry for George (Mary and Anne's brother). He was unfairly dragged into the mess when Anne wanted to sleep with him in order to get pregnant with a son. Neither of them could go through with it, and that scene was well acted because both of them looked like, "God, I don't want to do this."
I purchased the novel today and already there are differences - mostly what scenes are put first.
I think it's good I saw the movie first because now I'm far more likely to enjoy both the movie and novel rather than hating the movie and only liking the novel.
