All those small things do a lot to build atmosphere and portray the characters - I enjoy how they gain a lot more personality in your story, compared to the manga/anime. It's one of things I like most about fanfiction, actually - how a character can gain depth, a background and develope. The original PoT series doesn't focus much on those aspects outside of tennis, so I like to see those in stories.
Those things you mention - like characters being too chatty all of a sudden, or a chapter not writing itself as intended is something that I often struggle with, too. The problem in the first case is that explanations are needed, and somebody needs to give them (in my case, somebody needs to explain the antagonist's motives, but she isn't quite somebody prone to revealing herself)...
Hope you had a wonderful summer break, and I'm looking very much forward to seeing the next chapter!

I had a very nice summer break, but it's just as nice to jump back into writing this story. It's an ambitious project, so between that and all of the tenimyu soundtracks I listen to it's never been too far from my mind.
New chapter should be up within the hour.
