Canon:
Wyatt Matthew Halliwell is the son of Piper Halliwell and Leo Wyatt. He is the brother of Chris Halliwell and the nephew of Prue Halliwell, Phoebe Halliwell, and Paige Matthews. His mother and her sisters were the "Charmed Ones," a trio of witches who were the most powerful force of good on earth. In addition to his witch heritage, Wyatt's father, Leo, was a white lighter (a guardian angel), and so Wyatt is half witch/half white lighter.
Wyatt was born on February 2nd, 2003 (season 5), the day of the Wiccan Festival of Lights, as part of an ancient prophecy telling about the birth of a special, "twice-blessed child" on the day when three planets would align, during a Wiccan sabbat, during the Aurora Borealis where all magic everywhere would cease to exist for one day. In short, he's special. He's foretold to be the most powerful force of magic the world has ever seen -- but a force that can be swayed to good or evil. In one possible future, he turned evil and exerted his control over the world. Future!Chris went back in time to save him (a toddler at the time) from turning evil. The future was changed, and Wyatt (in theory) grew up to be a force for good.
(It's worth noting that Piper turned up pregnant with Wyatt after being told it was nigh impossible for her to bear children AND Phoebe "lost" the evil Source baby she was carrying AND said evil Source baby was supposed to be the most powerful force of magic the world has ever seen AND Wyatt was born six weeks premature. Interesting, no?)
Through season 7, young Wyatt and Chris were being raised by their mother, father and two aunts (Phoebe & Paige). At the end of season 7, the Charmed Ones and Leo were about to be outed by a Federal task force, and they faked their deaths to avoid this happening. Before doing so, Piper signed over guardianship of her sons to her father, Victor Bennett, along with giving him the Halliwell Manor and her nightclub, P3. She and her sisters also bound the boys' powers to protect them from evil coming after them.
Wyatt at Fandom High:
We are pulling Wyatt and Chris from an AU where season 8 never occurred. They were raised by their grandfather, assuming their parents had been killed in a house explosion, and knew nothing of their magical heritage. Fate intervened, however, and one day, when the boys were almost hit by a car, one of Wyatt's powers (a protective force field) activated itself to save them both. After that incident, the boys started digging around and soon discovered the Book of Shadows hidden away in the attic of the Manor. Much like Phoebe at the beginning of the series, Chris recited an incantation from the book and the boys' powers were restored. (They are still learning exactly what they can do and are unfamiliar with their new abilities.)
Victor decided to send them to Fandom High to keep them safe from any evil that might want to come after the sons of a Charmed One and to give them an opportunity to learn how to safely use their magic.
Powers:
In addition to witchy magic, Wyatt's powers include the ability to heal and orb/teleport (from his Whitelighter heritage) and a protective force field. He is heir to the sword Excalibur (not that he knows this in FH canon initially) and can summon it to his hands. He also possesses the power of telekinesis. His future evil self had the ability to summon energy balls and explosive powers. As a child, he also once summoned a dragon and conjured his dead great-grandmother's corporal presence and switched his parents powers around. We got your wacky wiccan hijinks right here, baby.
Personality:
Wyatt is very protective of his little brother, but he enjoys teasing the hell out of him as well. He's a lot more laid back than Chris, but he's also got an arrogant streak due to his alleged "specialness." It goes to his head sometimes.
