Turned a corner

We are really into early Autumn around here these days.

The furnace has been on a few times, but I still can run out of the house without putting too many extra clothes on. And the other week, I found the perfect sweater, for a steal. It's a lovely green cable-knit cardigan with the sleeves that go halfway over my hands. I'm wearing it now.

Last week I mulled some apple cider - just simmered it a while with cinnamon sticks and cloves. I kept it hot for half the day in my thermal carafe, and poured steaming mugfuls, and sipped, and sipped, and sipped.

It will be winter squash with dinner soon, whether anyone else takes any, or not.

The sun goes down all too early. Yes, already! But as the evenings get chilly, it is quite cozy to be crocheting an afghan, and have it draped all warm across my knees. The crocheting is cheery, with two co-ordinating strands of yarn worked together over a large hook. If my daughter is not napping or doing homework, she chats with me while I work.

And if we are not chatting, then I stitch quietly and think, and it goes well.
