Garden Things again

Got the garlic scapes all packed away. They're a bit woody, but should still be okay cooked.

I put three trays full of curry plant into the dehydrator. I will probably do a couple more trays of it this weekend. Tomorrow is either oregano or thyme.

Got the garden boxes all weeded, and almost all of the hazelnut pathways. I am a bit cheesed off that our "landscape technicians" who are supposed to be weeding the 80' strip along the fence can't seem to figure out dandelions and grass should get pulled. I can understand some of the other weeds & flowers getting mixed up. But grass and dandelions? Argh.

I was relieved to see some bean starts! I found some little bags of heirloom beans (maybe 30-40 beans per bag) at Portland Nursery last year and thought I'd give them a try. I put maybe 8-10 total beans of each of 4 kinds in the ground to see what happens with them. Hopefully they'll keep the cucumber and asparagus company by the tall fence.

Mac was kind enough to bring over some tomato starts, including the Siletz that Michael liked so much last year. Good thing I took care of the fava beans today. Maybe tomorrow I can get the tomato starts into the ground.

The blueberries are getting bluer! Now, if we could just get some lingon and huckles too.

Got a couple more compliments on the yard today too. I was out filling the bird bath when two kinda rough-&-tumble looking guys came past. One of them was a guy who's stopped to talk with me before, and he was telling his friend about our yard as they came by. Both of them said nice things, with the one who's stopped before saying "I was telling this guy, I saw it before y'all moved in. What you've done with it, ma'am, it's magical. Your yard is magical." Wow!
