I had a weird, but kind of cool dream last night. It was a sort of significantly-embellished version of the Battle of Midway, no doubt informed by my recent viewing of the movie Midway. In the dream, two carriers (I'm pretty sure they were Japanese) were sunk by bombing attack. The odd part was how fast they sank -- looked much more like toys than actual carriers. Following that, the "scene" changed to show the main Japanese carrier...which had three parallel flight decks, and looked almost like something out of Macross rather than World War II. I remember being captured and taken aboard, along with Masi Oka (Hiro, from Heroes), who was apparently also an American in the war. We were allowed to contact our fleet to tell them what the situation was, including how powerful the remaining opposition (presumably the three-decked supercarrier we were aboard) would be to our forces.
Then my alarm went off. Never got to see what happened afterwards.
Still, it was pretty neat. I have some pretty specific visual memories of the way that three-decked carrier looked, including metal lattice work and stuff. Might be fun to model it at some point.
