Its been a hard time in LJ land. People seem to update less (including yours truly), communities fall apart, etc. A lot of the appeal of posting to the internet i think has been usurped by instantly gratifying (and less effort-needing) status updates of Twitter and Facebook.  But surely they aren't better. I think there's something we're losing by allowing status updates to become the norm in the wake of personal blogs dying all over. Meanwhile, it seems that out of the ashes of the personal blog is rising the professional blog, the industry blog, the company blog, the news blog...

But lets try to stop that!

Here's something I could have posted as a status update:

"I love hot sauce on my buttered toast."

Instead, I'll elaborate here.

First I should mention that tonight I am enjoying some whole wheat toast with my newly purchased Earth Balance buttery spread. I got hungry and went out and did some grocery shopping. Its 11ish so there really is no point in cooking. I've had Earth Balance a couple of times and have really liked it, but this is the first time I have bought it. It really is great. I find that there is no real trade-off in using this instead of butter. not taste-wise anyway. To some degree I might say it tastes better than butter. Sure its processed, but it is delicious and non dairy. I'm sure there must be some sort of nutritional trade-off that isn't immediately obvious, but I'll leave that for another day.

So anyway, hot sauce on your buttered Earth Balance'd toast. It didn't taste any bit different. It might have tasted better. Anyway, this is symptomatic of a condition in my life that some of you are probably familiar with. I love hot sauce. I love it. I am an addict, a proud addict. I'm sure that hot sauce doesn't go well on EVERYTHING, but I've yet to put it on something that I didn't end up liking. In particular it seems that the Louisiana Style hot sauces are the most versatile. And when you are an addict you might end up having it in/on your breakfast, lunch, and dinner without realizing it. Like your fried rice? maybe it'll taste good with some hot sauce. Like your scrambled eggs? squirt on some hot sauce. I haven't tried it, but I'd be willing to squirt some hot sauce on some vanilla ice cream at least once (I wouldn't expect it to be great though, but you never know until you try).
