Those..things yesterday--why the hell did the City let something like that loose? N-not that they were scary or anything. They weren't so tough against a few fireballs...I think we might need to replace a couple things in the house ( Read more... )

Unfortunately, "why" is a question not likely to be answered.

Those creatures have appeared before.

I know--and I hate that about the City! Everything is guesses and rumours.

So it was the same story when they appeared last time?

It is frustrating for those who prefer answers to questions.

- Yes. Of course, I cannot personally vouch for their powers effects, but they seem to hold approximately the same abilities and range of appearances. The lack of power, as well.

Of course, the only way you could really measure it would be to let them touch either you or someone else. Not exactly something anyone's going to volunteer for.

The City must like them, though, if they brought them back. It does lend support to the theory that the clock runs off of chaos and our emotions.

Precisely. While I am "dead"- that does not make the experience any more pleasurable.

That theory, indeed, has always seemed the most likely to me. Second being that this is all simply a game for some superior being or beings.

Oh, uh--Being dead isn't exactly going to protect you from what they might do, is it?

Those both sound pretty likely with the way the City and the deities like to jerk us around. Trying to kill us one day, then giving us cake another.

It technically would mean I have "little to lose", but. You are correct.

Such is the nature of this place. I have experienced it for nearly four years now.

Seriously? You've had to put up with this for a long time...

Do a lot of the curses repeat like this one did?

sciencedaughter June 25 2010, 03:33:57 UTC
3 years, 9 months, 29 days, approximately.

Several have been known to do so- though I would say for every curse that does repeat, there are many more that do not. There are certain days, however, when many of the same curses are liable to repeat at seemingly random rates.

'Approximately'? That's pretty exact for a guess.

I think I remember one of those--there was one last month where everyone got hit by something completely different.

sciencedaughter June 25 2010, 16:04:42 UTC
... I could be much more specific, if you would like.

Precisely. If the patterns holds as it has for some time now, that will likely repeat this month, as well.

I think that's more than specific enough.

That's been happening every month? Ugh, what a pain!

It is indeed... "a pain".

But thankfully predictable enough. Preparations can be made.

I don't see how you could really prepare for it when you don't even know how you'll be affected, besides barricading yourself in a room.

...Oh. I'm Rita Mordio, by the way.

Many of the curses during this day are repeats that I have observed or experienced before. As an example, occasionally curses taint the water supply- thus I keep bottled water.

Kurotsuchi Nemu.

It is... a pleasure.

There's ones like that too...Keeping supplies on hand is a good idea at any time for days like yesterday or when we had that stupid sheep attack. There's not much you can do about the ones that make you do things you wouldn't if you weren't cursed, though.
