Epic Post Pt 2: Couture Noir and Asylum Business

Sep 30, 2009 09:44

So we ended up getting home on Sunday night. I was exhausted and pretty much just collapsed into bed. Yuck. So sleepy.

Monday Jo calls me to tell me she can't assist me because they, like us, are having car issues. Heather, being amazing Heather, says she can help out. I say that's fine, I'm just going to work on customer orders and last minute show details anyway. Monday concluded with us finally getting our migrant worker van back with a new transmission. Hurray! Everything is coming up Milhouse!

The next day I had a meeting at the Suburban World Theatre with the Asylum, our sound guy and Ryan's bff Kurt, one of his DJs, and Jonathan TeBeest. We were paying the deposit and checking out the venue for sound. Amazing! It is a perfect fit for us! Sadly, on the way to the fabric store before this meeting, my van breaks down on the side of the road. The water pump exploded or something. Amazing timing right? Yeah, so I was late to the meeting because I had to get the car towed to the mechanic's house, then we had to take Heather's car to the meeting. Sad face :( But despite that and my anger, I'm still so excited about finding our venue and getting it for so cheap. Don is so great and I am so happy to be working with him. Jonathan and Kurt seemed pretty excited. They are both so effing cute. So yeah, our November event will be the shit. Limited tix. Buy them now. Also, the price will go up at the door, so do it now.

So, after that I go home, call Jo and she gets dropped off by her dad to help me sew. I have a fitting with my new model Taylor (so cute!) , then we work hard into the night. Liz calls me upset because of problems she's having at home, so I invite her and her fiance over for booze. Also, getting Jo to drink is both funny and makes me feel guilty. I won't do it again XD But Liz is win and I'm super happy she's my friend and stylist. She's very talented.

So, the next day was the Couture Noir Show at the Varsity. milkypop and I did that show together. It was pretty good. There were a lot of things I didn't like about it, like how Seamstrix treated models and how I had a hard time getting questions answered. As far as shows go, it was okay and it reached a different crowd, but I had already done another show the previous Saturday out of state and had another one coming up in two days. It wasn't so serious. But we met the adorable Tomahawk Tassels, a local burlesque striptease performer. She is so so cute and Megan and I had a blast talking to her. We also met an AMAZING jewelry designer named Kristin who runs a local etsy show called Bionic Unicorn. I officially love this girl. he jewelry is astounding and so beautifully crafted. And heavy. I love her. She agreed to show her jewelry at SGMS as well, so we were tickled pink XD

I must say, though, my girls looks beautiful. Too bad I personally didn't get a lot of great pics. I'll post the ones I took Myspace style and the ones I've found online. Also, even though the models I've had since coming home are pretty, no one looks as good in that pink coat as the white haired girl in Atlanta.

By Marcus Metropolis:

After the show Megan and I went back home and chatted with Ryan a bit. Then she took off. I changed, sewed a little bit and went to bed.

Thursday I sewed in the morning, cleaned up for Megan and Austin, then went to the airport to pick them up.
