Epic Post Pt. 1: Anime Weekend Atlanta

Where do I start? Well, Ryan and I went to AWA which was amazing. If you haven't been, go. Atlanta is oddly like Minneapolis in a lot of ways. I thought Megan was full of shit when she said as much, but it's true.

So, we flew in Thursday night, Megan picked us up and we met up with Austin to go to a place called Taco Mac, which is oddly enough, not really a taco place. I think it's a front for a beer store, since they have what could only be described as a three page beer menu bookended with food.

The next day we got dressed up, waited in line at the convention center and rushed to a panel. I think it was the commission panel. While fun and imformative, it made me realize how hard it is to do a panel with someone you don't live in the same state as. Especially when you have different ways of teaching. It was fine though. Later that night, I think we ate some food and then sewed until 3 am. I met Megan's mom and borther. he mom is amazing and hilarious! Oh, we ate at a place called the Vortex. Once I upload my phone pix, I'll post them. That place was amazing, but sadly had bullshit service.

Saturday was the fashion show. We got there around noon I think. Maybe earlier. I should have written this last week. Either way, we set up in the Artist

Alley, set the boys to work and rushed to the green room. We prepped the girls, they got their hair an dmakeup done and we did last minute tweaks. One of my zippers melted or something and ceased zipping so I had to sew poor Brittany into her dress. Good thing she loved it so much!

The models I got were win. One girl whose name I am spacing on, had white hair and looked like a fairy. I want her to model for me forever. She was soooo pretty and dainty and elegant. All of the other girls were great too in amazing ways. I was really happy with my choices XD

So we went on around 3 or 4pm and the show went really well. It's the first time Megan has run a show and she did a pretty good job! My only gripe is I'd have liked one more hour for prep and rehearsal but that's it. Everything else will just take practice. After the show (which turned away a butt-ton of people and was packed to the gills), we did a Q & A. It was really amazing to have so many people who knew nothing of Lolita ask so many questions. I really enjoyed it.

After the show and Q & A we went back to the table.

Having one table and none of my props made selling hard. We decided we need to just drive to all cons where we sell, regardless of how long the drive is because I think my sales suffered because I didn't have a helper and I didn't have my displays. Ryan did a really great job but Lolitas just don't trust buying from men, even if those men and legally obligated to love the designer XD

On a different note, Brittany is amazing.

She was so funny and offensive and once I edit this video of her being awful, I will post it. I think she's my favorite person I met all weekend.

Later that evening, we meant to take Austin out for his 30th b-day. Sad, though, he got sick. So so sad. I love Austin. He's so sweet and fun, I wish we'd have been able to go out with him that night. Instead we ended up going to Savage Pizza, a place that sorta reminded me of Bad Waitress. It had superhero stuff everywhere and was nerdy.

Sunday was another panel and then the tea. A very cute tea. A tea that made Ryan realize once and for all that Lolita meet-ups are not all about EGL drama. We mostly talked about Brittany wanting Megan's eggs because Megan doesn't like kids and Jessica's grey wig. And some other fun stuff. Not drama. It was great XD

After the con we said our goodbyes, and went to the airport. We ate fried food, got on the airplane in different rows/seats and headed home. I love sitting next to Ryan but I sleep better if I'm not near him. I read my book and listened to music. It was pretty relaxing.

missmeganmaude and mastergode were such amazing hosts. I just love them. Ryan and I get along so very well with them. It's like we've known them our whole lives.
