The show killed. Having never been to Irving Plaza before, I wasn't aware of the setup or how intimate a setting it is. It technically was an all ages show with the "under 21's" down on the floor level and the "over 21's" (aka those-who-wanted-to-partake-in-adult-bevs) were on the top floor. This was great because we didn't really have to be thrown in the teeny-bopper scence and the upstairs lounge area offered a really great veiw (except for the 6 foot tall guy who insisted on standing in front of me pratically the entire time and forcing me to stand on my tip toes. inconsiderate bastard) Jesse had his bear hat on and looked like a bear <3! The two opening acts (Manchester Orchestra & Kevin Devine) were also good, partly bc Jesse & the BN guys played with them as well. All in all, BN played for near 2 hours and were really awesome. I have to say that there were parts of the show where Jesse really was Kurt Cobain-esque. (Maybe also at the end of Kevin Devine's set, all the bands did a KILLER rendition of "Smells like Teen Spirit")
This was the setlist to the best of my knowledge:
1. Okay I believe you but my tommy gun don't
2. Jaws Theme Swimming
3. Me vs Maradonna vs Elvis
4. No Seatbelt Song
5. The quiet things that no one ever knows
6. Sic Transit Gloria
7. The Boy who blocked his own shot
8. Good to know
9. Play crack the sky
10. Sowing season
11. Millstone
12. Archers
13. Luca
14. Handcuffs
15. Limousine
16. Jesus Christ
17. Degausser
18. You won't know
19. Welcome to bangkok (encore)
P.S. Me and B found $10 by the merch booth which he immediately scooped up and we split it and bought shirts!I am aware that this may be perceived as stealing by some of you, but there was clearly no one around so it wasn't like we could return it. Besides, it wasn't like a million dollars, it wouldn't have even filled up my gas tank.
P.P.S. I am so tired. Me and my brother both fell asleep on the train ride home.
P.P.P.S. My legs are killing me bc of the 35 blocks we had to walk in each direction. Thankfully it was a gorgeous day so no real weather issues.
