Weekend Tours + Pizza Party
So March has been crazy. Magma Fest, the month long string of benefit shows for Hollow Earth Radio ended last weekend. Magma Fest raised $10,000 for Hollow Earth Radio!!!! Well, we made $4,000 from shows and then SubPop donated $6,000!!! That means that people don't have to worry about paying out of pocket for hosting, for awhile and there's money for various things that the radio needs to thrive. Towards the end of March I played a couple of shows with The Besties and they are so incredibly good and sweet. Sweet in the good music way and in the kind people way. I even won a dance contest during one of their shows, I was told my winning move was "the fierce kitty". Check out their new 7", it's really really good. I hope WCP and I play a show with them this summer in New York.
During the Magma Fest Eruption show (the finale), Your Heart Breaks stole everyone's breathe. He was playing with LAKE and Matt Fu as the YBH backing band. The rendition of "God Speed John Glenn" with 6-part vocal harmony was almost too beautiful and also charming. Ridiculous. I hope they play lots more shows like that whenever LAKE gets back from tour. They leave this weekend(?) and won't be back for 3-4 months. All anyone could talk about, after the show, was how incredible YHB was.
I'm also leaving for tour this weekend. First we're going to Oly and Portland, then the weekend after is Port Townsend, Vancouver BC, Bellingham (hopefully), then Seattle. A week off then tour with Jason Clackley for 10 days. Here is a better formatted itinerary:

In other news, I'm getting way more angry lately when people use the words "bitch", "slut", "whore", etc. Not exactly sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but man, there are a lot of offensive people out there and they either want to play at my house or send music to my tape label. I've been calling them out on it, which I'm hoping is productive, though it seems most of them just don't care. Any feelings on that subject, friends?
