So today, I sent off yet another resume, this time to a company that's looking for a technical writer in the New Orleans area. I've sent off a lot of resumes and queries lately, and scoured multiple job search websites, but haven't gotten more than a few nibbles, none of which (clearly) have worked out.
I guess I was spoiled in that I've never really had to do this before. I was offered my job at the Guide even before I graduated college, having done a little freelance work for them while I was still in school. In retrospect, taking that probably was a bad idea -- I spent five years stuck in a job that I hated, but couldn't seem to get out of. Now I'm looking for something better. Virtually anything would be something better.
I'll figure it out.
Although I'm certainly not above accepting a little help.
In quasi-related news, I've talked to Ronee (my agent, in case you missed that part) a bit more frequently as of late about trying to get some writing assignments for me. I recently finished off a script for an established comic book series that I've asked her to try to submit (it's a longshot, I know, but I've gotten the story written and it can't hurt to give it a shot), and she's made a lot of contacts as of late. Plus, I've got a lot of stuff written that I want to try to publish -- short stories, my novella, and of course, Lost in Silver.
Even though I'm not working, I'm working.
