I recently ran out of contacts.
See, I have dailies, but I mostly just put them in solution and wear them for about one to two weeks each. I realized I was about to break out my spare pair, and that's when I should have ordered more, but instead, I just kept wearing those. I don't know what I was waiting for, I guess for one of them to blow away or fall out or something.
Eventually the right one failed, so now I had one 7.5 contact, and one old 7.0 contact. I decided to wear the 7.0 in alternating eyes so they would share the eyestrain. Let me tell you, going to bed one night with an eye that's strained all day against a 7.0, and then switching them, is far worse than just having 7.0 in both eyes, or leaving one eye the same.
The only reason I did that was to avoid giving myself the equivalent of lazy eye in one eye. My advice to you is: never do this, it sucks.
Later, I went to the gym and fucked up my back doing squats. I loaded 20lbs more than my last max on, took the bar off the rack and instantly had some horrible back twinge and had to drop the bar to the safeties (embarrassing!) It's healing nicely, and I think I'll be fine. If you talk to enough guys in a gym, you can hear about an impressive number of injuries and surgeries, I hope I'm not on that path.
