My Final Comments On The YAPRO Situation

Feb 12, 2007 18:15

Here's my final thoughts on this controversial situation. After this, I am done talking about it.

In case you haven’t read the comments section of the YAPRO post, go ahead and do so.

What I posted there last night was copied and pasted onto the Florida Indies board (thankfully, as it means I don’t have to have an account on there again) and was put into this thread: http://flrankings.proboards80.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1171230391

As you can see from everyone’s reactions, people are still tapdancing around the questions I’m asking as if their name was Gregory Hines and they refuse to address why the show was built up like it was when it turned out to be a fraud. I mean, you have MSL trying to play psychiatrist and coming up with cornball theories about how I think and feel, and people saying that I “don’t understand wrestling” and I wanted to “hear my name be said at the show” and all that… talk about completely not understanding what I’m saying.

Even though I don’t understand why there had to be a tournament at the show instead of a regular event with a bunch of matches (so that more wrestlers could be on the card to pay tribute to Devin), the show itself, if you look at it just from what went on in the ring, I’m not complaining about it at all. I’ll give the in-ring stuff and the excellent tribute to Devin at the end of the event its props and all the respect it deserves.

For the final time, my problem with the YAPRO Cup was that it was billed as a ridiculous messageboard vs. messageboard feud where all that happened with that was previously addressed by me. When showtime comes around and no mention is made at all as to everything involving the buildup to the feud, I just do not understand why in the fuck it was done when they knew all along it wasn’t going to be addressed at all at the show. Why didn’t they just instead set up the tournament but not include a bullshit backstory to it involving people picking teams and all that nonsense if they never wanted the backstory to be a part of the show when it ran?

I mean, if they would have never set up that Goddamn messageboard feud then it would have saved us all from the manufactured drama AND the pointless subfeud of MSL vs. the AWF, which of course will never be resolved either. I mean, how can people justify MSL’s actions in the week preceding the show, where he said things like (I’m explaining it in detail to those of you who don’t read the messageboards:

In reference to an argument he had with pro wrestler/promoter Bonez,

“Well, in this instance, your post (attacking me) is the proof and since I just filed a complaint with the FBI, your reaction will most likely be the retract.” (from http://flrankings.proboards80.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1170910509&page=1)

In reference to Richard Merritt, AWF owner:

“You may not have a chance in hell of (Devin’s) show making money, but deciding to run a show in the first place could now turn out to be a very profitable proposition assuming Mr. Merritt owns any land, homes, or vehicles.” (from http://flrankings.proboards80.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1170819561&page=2)

“After Friday hopefully I will never have to deal with your idiocy ever again. No angles, no chit chat at shows, nothing. I don't care about you, your whore wife, or anything else. Let me do my job and put together the best show I can. You do your job and put together the best ring you can. After that, it's over. Devin can go to the marines, you can go to the local gay bar, and I can go to the buffet. Bye.” (from http://flrankings.proboards80.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1170819561&page=1)

There was also another thread that I can’t locate where MSL accused Mr. Merritt’s wife of cheating on him with a 16 year old!

Now, those comments are absolutely disgusting and do not belong anywhere near a tribute show for a wrestler entering the Armed Forces. There’s no justification for those remarks at all. But, as I said before, I wouldn’t have been upset if they would’ve gone with the idea of having the storylines actually play a part in the show. By saying “Oh, all the shit we were talking about, which including the burying of people, whether or not they were involved with the show, such as Blair Russell… that was complete bullshit done just to give us something to do and make us look self-important.” That’s an incredibly insulting attitude to put across and if future shows are built like this, that would totally turn me off from attending local pro wrestling shows.

I don’t know how many times I have to say that before people understand it, but I’m tired of having to repeat myself because the people I’m criticizing (only a few) continue to duck the issue.

Since I have a feeling I’ll never receive a satisfactory answer to the simple and honest queries I’m inquiring about, this will be the last post in regards to the YAPRO Cup. Let’s all just move on accept that I appear to be the only one offended by the revolting (and ultimately pointless and frivolous)promotional tactics (those tactics are unfortunate as without them, I would’ve given a positive review to the event), and I’m looking forward to attending AWF’s show this Thursday in Auburndale and seeing if there is anyone else who has a beef with me concerning my YAPRO Cup review.
