[He said he didn't know if he wanted to be alone or not. So, just for that possibility, for the chance he ends up deciding he doesn't want to, Umi slipped out of the beach house and walked all the way to the shop that night.

But she doesn't enter the greenhouse. She just stays outside, watching Ken from behind the glass.

This is her way to give him space while still being there for him. Or so she tells herself. The truth is... she also needs him. But this close is enough to know he's there, still going, maybe even doing a bit better. She's far enough to go unnoticed. He can ignore her and pretend he doesn't just as easily, too. That'll still be fine.]

[Ken knows she's out there. Part of him wants to yell at her for trying to sneak around an assassin, but mostly, he's far too tired to argue. For a long moment, he ponders just calling her in to join him, but before he can make up his mind, Bandit scampers out after her, barking like she hasn't seen Umi for days.]

... good job, Bandit. Hell of a watchdog.

[Too late. And imagine that. Her perfectly stealthy scheme ruined by the pet. No wonder she's never going to get along with animals. So where does that leave Umi? Sort of standing there like a moron and hoping he's not too mad at her.]

[Snorting, Ken snaps his fingers and the dog barks once more before running back into the shop only to settle at Ken's side.]

... you may as well come in since your cover was blown.

[She doesn't realize she's turned on the video on her end, but she's laying on her sofa, watching the screen and wiping away few stray tears. Occasionally, she takes a drag on her cigarette.]

[Ken doesn't realize it either and continues to work on, his fingers working to gently coax each stem into place.]

[She continues to watch, and her cat, jumps up to cuddle with Mara. As the cat watches, she reaches out with a paw to bat at the screen, letting her desire to play with the waving stems be known with a plaintive meow.]
