Last night I watched a documentary on carnival and circus sideshows showcasing the most popular "human oddities" in the history of the shows. One of those interviewed was a woman who performed in the shows for years and she has no legs.
Today I was at work when we received and an email that all corporate employees are to attend a "diversity training" seminar hosted by
Brett Eastman. The man has no arms or legs. He only has small "flippers" where his limbs should be. If any of you know me, I am a very tolerant person. That being said, I also have a curiousity for strange and unusual people. Basically, I enjoy laughing at the expense of others. This is why I spend hours in mall food courts and enjoy going to Wal-Mart. These places are the freakshows our my era. We are the freaks. I will not be able to contain myself at this show. I am expecting several cuts and sores on my tongue to keep myself from being hysterical at this "diversity training".
Another thing that bothers me about this seminar -- my employer is not tolerant when it comes to religion. Before we have any group gathering, someone from the upper eschalon of the company will lead a Christian prayer and end with "In Jesus' name we pray". There is no warning or disclaimer, nor are any other faiths observed. I have to ask if there will be a Christian prayer recited before we have our "diversity training" seminar. Talk about hypocritical.
