It's a STAMPEDE! O.o

Today while at work I found out that Roger Zelanzy was also involved with Hawkwind just like Douglas Adams was. It amused me greatly when I found his novels Lord of Light, My Immortal, and Demolition Alley, then realised I had all three of those Hawkwind songs on my playlist. I already knew he, as the author of Jack of Shadows, was given a tribute by Hawkwind from the PXR5 album, but I didn't know about the other books.

Jack of Shadows was a great novel, by the way. It's been years since I last read it but I enjoyed it very much. I loved Morningstar. For the small part of the novel he was in his tale was sad and brilliant, and so richly saturated in history...

Work gave me the most awful headache today and I don't know why. The library wasn't any noisier than usual and no kids were acting up. On the bright side I borrowed a CD of pretty music, a guide on plane flight, a manual on making teddy bears and of course, Demolition Alley. Hell Tanner sounds like a shitbag but he'll most likely make an interesting main character.

I'm still working on Siren's Way. Scribbling Turned On relaxes my brain and makes it easier to write for the other, more important fic. I posted a chapter of the little fic last night even though nothing remotely romantic happened in it. It's building up to an interesting scene, I swear.

On that note, listening to the Serial Experiments Lain OST while writing Siren's Way is making the fic seem darker than what it was originally meant to be. Siren is a little bit like Lain when you really think about it, a remnant program without a purpose anymore, but still attached to so much power that it is frightening. He's about as messed up as Lain is, too.

Now, onto a very stupid subject. I hate buying shoes. I desperately need new pairs of shoes but the shape of my foot is really kind of unique, as in, I have really, really small feet. It's not that the shoes are too big for me, it's that they're too LONG for me, I always end up with about an inch of empty space at my heel when I try on toe shoes. If I go down a size the space at the heel is decreased, but then the toe of the shoe is too small. Grumble. I'm a size seven ladies, by the way.

And really, toe shoes are the only kind of shoes that match with my current fashion style. It's annoying because the sandals I've been wearing up to now are not good for winter weather.
