The SAD State of Social Media
Honestly, I dislike what Social Media has become.
Honestly, I've always felt the LJ had the better FEED style, even before XML & RSS even were a thing. I was on here back when it was JUST KEYWORDS, THEN TAGS, and I don;t even know if they have #hashtags yet. Do they??? Kinda looks like it.
The problem with "social media" is that its all TRAPPED within APPLICATIONS (apps) on so-called "smart devices", most notably "smartphones" which IRONICALLY make people STUPID, and LAZY!
I'm FED UP with "sleekness" minimalism! FUCK THAT!
I'm a MAXIMALIST!
Altho, I honestly do NOT care about fame & fortune seeking crap.
I'm SO FED UP with people becoming brainless LEMMINGS that parrot whichever platform's CORPORATE flavor of the week is, which can switch on a dime, and pits u against ur friends, and neighbors. (also, totally guilty of falling into those traps, myself)
No, FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS A RIGHT, and if can't understand the CONTEXT of phrases like "Well, you can't shout fire in a crowded theater" TO HUSH someone with TONE POLICING & THOUGHT CONTROL, then U BEEN HAD!

When Social Media turned into the ONLINE "PUBLIC SQUARE" which BY THE WAY: IT IS, THEN YOU CAN say whatever you want.
Where the line is DRAWN is if its HARMING PEOPLE and done out of cruelty, and power dynamics. But, even BY NOW people abuse THIS "power dynamic" talking point and call things they DISLIKE as "bullying" when it often times IS NOT.
Another ones is "punching down" VS "punching up"such as comedians, and the archetype of the JESTER.
These things REQUIRE CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS, and not just REACTIONARY BEHAVIORS.
But, also, PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED TO BE WRONG, and also ALLOWED TO BE AN ASS HOLE.
Then, there's Civil Rights, but just because someone dislikes you, and they just happen to be around, is NOT them ATTACKING YOU.
And, you CANNOT just use your FEELINGS as a method t always get your way, or PEARL CLUTCHING, or Tone Policing.
There's WAY MORE IMPORTANT THINGS in this reality than PRONOUNS, or your sense of entitlement of getting your way.
helping everyone to progress the civil rights of marginalized groups is supposed to be a GOOD THING to help include people, make things fair, equal, or safe. It DOES NOT mean those groups should be placed on a pedestal, turned into a Pharaoh, worshiped, never questions, forced to bow down, and just destroy centuries of common language and speech just to appease their egos.
OBVIOUSLY, i never wanted kids attacked, bullied, beaten, harassed, maimed, and murdered just for being gay, bi, trans, or whatever else (LGBTQ+). So, I stood up for them. But, fast-forward to TODAY, N u DO NOT get to say shitty stuff to me, and expect me to just take it! And this shit is way to misogynistic!

I stood up for the rights of these marginalized groups, out of love, compassion, and progress so they could have a job, and not be forced to be a prostitute, and live with dignity, be respected as neighbors, intelligent minds, and compassionate hearts. TO BE INCLUDED.
But, then I'm just PUSHED ASIDE & DEGRADED???

Anyways, my main point is those of us WHOM KNOW how to build these things, such as social media, basic coding, basic programming, and even THIS kinds of stuff on LJ, which involves customizing it all from pure text, we TEND to still "get it" with these things.
I so much more prefer the FEED in LJ, altho no one out of my friends groups r currently here now.
I can ACTUALLY SEE what's in the feed, and it's not SCREWED UP.
There's no shadow banning, no algorithms, no "pushing".
It's just what I am following.
Also, back when I was younger, I had more enjoyable times just READING.
Everything now, is just "micro blogs", Tweets, short posts, for short attention spans, and doom scrolling. NO SUBSTANCE.
Blogger has no FEED interactions with other users anymore, and Google+ is GONE.
I also don't think ANYONE does use a Feed Reader application much these days, anymore.
Nowadays everything is "SLEEK" which I HATE.
SO, it's either Black (Dark Mode), White (Light m Mode), some variation of GRAY, or pre-made color options. BTW IF they have purple, if it's NOT Yahoo!, IT ALWAYS SUCKS! It's usually NOT even purple if they even have a so-called PURPLE, but something pink, magenta, dark blue, and almost never even periwinkle which would be fine, IMHO, but they just don't.
No REAL customization, but even if there is, it's behind a paywall, and u barely get ANYTHING CUSTOMIZABLE. Just basic stuff.
Everyone has lost their scruples.
