The Philoctetes Project is staging readings from Sophocles for American battle veterans.
They are using the Ajax and Philoctetes to illustrate that what happens to modern-day soldiers when they come home has been happening for millennia.

Williamsport, PA is going to be the 'featured town of the week' next week on the annoying NPR quiz show 'Whad'Ya Know'. And, coincidentally, the show is aired from Wisconsin.

NPR just said that the American women's water polo team is one of our best chances for a gold medal. I swear I heard it as "the American women's Marco Polo team." I guess that's one of the Pool and Yard events along with Hopscotch, Hide and Seek, Bocce and Jarts. I'm shocked at the doping scandal on the French Freeze Tag team.

My neighborhood has that google-maps street level camera thing. Do Not Want. You can scroll up and down my street at street level. I mean, it's not like it's a live camera or anything, but still. I find it creepy and I don't like it ( Read more... )
