The Wrestler

Has anyone seen it yet? Besides timwb, 'cause well...I know you saw it.
Thoughts?

My thoughts, without spoilers:

It was masterful. Sports movies can be tough to pull off in a way that doesn't make me queasy (and I say that as a die-hard fan of Hoosiers) and Aronofsky nailed it ( Read more... )

I have not seen it yet. Might try to check it out this week if it is still playing. Preston and Steve were making fun of the Springsteen song which was pretty funny.

I did get to see Benjamin Button which was a little long, but very good.

Oh was it? Good.

The Springsteen song was the only good song in the movie. There was lots of Ratt and Quiet Riot.

Funny how we always say Ratt and Quiet Riot in the same sentence. I suspect that one day people will say The Killers and Franz Ferdinand in the same way.

a) glad you saw it. I'm jealous.

b) awesome that the movie had some Delawarity to it.

c) Further awesomeness that this good movie forced Ratt and Quiet Riot on you. I'm cracking up picturing you trying to digest well-acted drama while having to listen to "Round and Round" by Ratt.

1. You will LOVE it. There is all kinds of inside-wrestling stuff.

2. Yeah, ha. We were all "No. WAY." when we first heard someone say "...down in Wilmington."

3. Ha ha ha. There was a sublime 80s hair-metal moment that I won't share with you (spoiler).

Hey there, I saw it up in Philly several weeks ago. I can't remember how long ago now but I thought it was spectacular.

From the perspective of someone who was a hopeful indy wrestler and someone who knows indy wrestlers, he gets it completely right my mind.

The Delaware references were nice. I'm familiar with the promotions that were used in the movie and it's very cool to see. None of them usually work in DE though.

and yeah, marisa tomei does a spectacular job. :) i'm rooting for Rourke at the Oscars.
