so, i have never been an avid reader. once i get into a book, i have trouble putting it down. but i rarely accomplish the feat of picking up a book and getting past the first chapter without getting distracted by something else. there are a few books i'd like to read this summer, but i was hoping that you may have some suggestions. (this was inspired by
sugarpromises' summer reading list.)
so my question, dear flist, what are your favorite books? or rather, what are some must-reads. i tend to not like beach novels, a la nicholas sparks. i like books with a little more meat on them, but i doubt i'll tackle war and peace or don quixote, or something of the like.
my current list (for the summer and beyond):
velocity - dean koontz (a friend of mine suggested it. and it's a fast read, so i'm currently reading that.)
she's come undone - wally lamb (i loved i know this much is true, and i've heard this one is even better.)
the perks of being a wallflower - stephen chbosky (i've been meaning to read this for a long time, just haven't gotten around to it.)
anna karenina - leo tolstoy (a book i've had in my collection for quite some time. my mom read it and loved it. it's pretty hefty, so i've been putting it off.)
pride and prejudice - jane austen (yet another i've been meaning to actually finish. i can't even count how many times i've started and gotten halfway through before i got distracted by something else.)
