She spoke in a calm, cultivated tone, only her eyes betraying her true nature.
"T'was necessary, luv."
She cocked an eyebrow.
His grin went lopsided, he shrugged.
"Given the number of enemies, we won't be able to escape save there'll be a proper Parley as subterfuge manoeuver, aye? And if I'd voted for meself or another, there wouldn't be any. Savvy?"
"I see, but..."
"Just do it, luv. I count on your pig-headedness to preserve me Pearl from Beckett's clutches."
"WHAT???"
He wasn’t sure if he deserved those angry red prints stinging on his cheek after she left...
