Dog-sitting holiday

Nov 29, 2017 00:26

I was sitting for the dog on the left, who is Helper Dog to the Simple Dog on the right. This photo was taken at the home of Simple Dog on Thanksgiving; the two are friends and so Sidney the Helper Dog got to come to the gathering.

For those unfamiliar, Simple Dog and Helper Dog come from Hyperbole and a Half, and for some reason I can’t link the comic here; DW is breaking the link no matter what I do. But you can find it by googling “Dogs don’t understand basic concepts like moving.” I recommend reading their saga. It’s one of the best things on the internet.

Helper Dog lives in a very nice house with a backyard bounded not by a fence but by tracks.

By Saturday, I was home, working on this commission which ... it’s a hazard of working from photos that very often, what looks straightforward and simple turns out to really REALLY not be, I mean in the sense of, “Wait, what the hell am I even looking at, here?” This one, it was the horse’s chest and legs that had me stumped; I couldn’t tell what started or ended where, and at least one of her white socks in the source photo was placed such that it made no sense, like it couldn’t even be in that spot unless something were badly wrong with the leg. Like: broken at the knee and bent sideways.

And then there’s the EVENT this weekend oh man.

I am gonna fall over by the time ... I mean I am teaching a class and getting all the stuff ready for that, and coordinating an art show of sorts, and ... I need beer. Someone please send me beer please.
