The Yao Chronicles 1.7 - In which this is really NOT what it looks like.
The Yao Chronicles: a sort of pixel_trade legacy, I'm using other people's sims, but not necessarily following all the rules, mostly because I'm lazy and forgetful
Last Time: I moved the family into their new home, Astronaut and Crazy got makeovers, the family gained another stalker, the kids got into private school with a little help from Avaline, Astronaut and Mysterieuse became teens with only Crazy there to witness it.
Notes: We have a bumper update for you this time, about halfway through I decided to cover more ground, so there's a lot of boring stuff you won't be seeing. But of course, that point is where stuff started getting interesting, and I ended up with a 120 picture update, so enter at your own risk.

We begin with a newly made over Mysterieuse. Just her skintone and hair, but it makes a big difference. It also highlights how similar, but also how different she is from Sam.
Speaking of Sam, he has apparently got fat.
So it's time to work it off! Mostly because I hate the male fat state.
With a bonus pre-school gaming Astronaut in the background.
Poor Yulia (rikkulidea/quinctia) clashes horribly with the house.
The twins LTWs. Both career focused, which is good... I think.
*clicks Inform Chief*
Woo! Fairly straighforward, I'm usually quite good with chance cards1
And this little lady here is Avaline, all grown up.
For reference, I'm keeping up with her family as well as the Yao's. Avaline is little older than the twins, and her brother Kato is a little older than Crazy.
Astronaut: Man, I love school. School is awesome. Even homework is good.
The twins birthday cakes are still on the counter almost two days later. You can just about see the infestation that's gathered around it.
I'm not sure if Meila (keoni_chan) is waving at him, or indicating that she likes what she sees.
(I can't remember his name, but he's a generic face template and not a p_t sim)
Since Mysterieuse's want panel has been clogged with "Ask on Date" I let her harness the power of the Find-A-Mate crystal ball, which gave us Jeremiah (rhiannon_alexis)
Mysterieuse then promptly decides to continue the tradition of awkward hangouts.
Sam: My hands will save lives.
One step closer to that LTW too!
Speaking of LTW's; the twins both get into their chosen careers on the first go.
At first glance, this is a lovely shot of a family sitting down to eat, whilst talking about the weather.
Look closer however, and it becomes a fraught war of the sexes, with battle lines drawn in the excess foodstuffs.
Mysterieuse is autonomously clearing the table. This is odd, since she has the lowest neat points in the house.
Van and one of her cats are seemingly being stalked by smart_spell's Strep.
Dag is the only one in the house for most of today, so I put her to work...
...cleaning all the dirty things...
...and fixing all the broken ones.
Avaline: ...so I told him
These two have the lowest relationship score out of any of the kids. I like to think that they have a "friendship" - they dislike each other, but their mutual like of Astronaut means that they pretend.
Crazy: Hey look Mr. Wall! I got an A+
Crazy by name...
Mysterieuse: ...and she was like, well I've got a diamond ring, and I just had to let her know that pearl necklaces are so much classier.
Dag: Um, yeah, about that...
Proof that Avaline would rather hang out with a kid her brother's age, than Mysterieuse.
Astronaut takes after Sam in the promotion celebrations.
A little bit of family studying. Mysterieuse is brushing up on her cooking, whilst Sam is fixing up his mechanical knowledge.
Astronaut, however,thinks that the modern convenience of TV cookery shows, is enough to get by.
A brief interlude of a promoted and rich Dag.
It turns out that it's not by the way.
The family that skills together, stays together.
More studying! It can't be helped though - these two are both part-knowledge sims.
Avaline: Man Kato, I remember when you were just a baby.
Kato: You suck.
Astronaut: I can see your house from here.
Sam is slowly but surely climbing that career ladder. One more step to go!
Dag is also on her way up, and is continuing her tradition of being a great role model to kids that aren't hers.
Kato: So, does that mean that you get to fight elephants?
Dag: No, but I do get to protect fair maidens.
Msyteriuse: Aw man, am I awesome.
Mysterieuse: I'm so awesome, I'm gonna make pancakes.
This is probably the 585416514th picture I have of these guys eating together, but you can all deal.
Dag: Never has "I'm your knight in shining armor. I'm here to save you from Linkin Park." been a more apt quote.
Sam's spending his day off cleaning the house. I actually find this shot a little sad, for reasons you'll see soon enough. *ominous music*

And we have fail!
Goddamn do I hate these useless chance cards.
Dag: Whatever. I've got skills, and I don't have to work with those plebeians any longer.
Sam & Dag: Oh hey Astro.
Why are we gathering in the kitchen if there's no meal, you ask?
Because it's time for my Sam to get old ;_; I hope all your wishes come true!
Sam: *blows*
Astronaut: Oh my God, how is my dad so awesome at this?
Sam: I'm old. This isn't what I wished for.
A first look at elder!Sam. He's actually pretty good looking, which bodes well for the rest of the family.
Dag apparently approves of old!Sam as well.
Astronaut: My dad's old!
Despite his advancing years, Sam is still part family sim, and so decides to spend time with his youngest son.
Including dragging him out into the snow, to pelt him with projectiles.
Crazy: Hahahahaha my dad is awesome!
Mysterieuse's pleasure side has been cropping up its head lately, and demanding a date. So I give in.
Mysterieuse: Jeremiah!!
Jeremiah: Mysterieuse!!
And so begins their date.
Mysterieuse: ...and my mum totally threatened to end her...
Surely Jeremiah's legs must be freezing by now?
Astronaut is also on a date by the by. His lucky lady is Sol (sounseelie)
Dag: I'm not sure I like the kids dating so young. From there it's a slippery slope to being tied down by marriage and babies.
Sam: ...tied down?
Sam: Well, tell me what you really think.
In contrast to Mysterieuse's date going to fabulously...
...Astronaut's isn't going so well.
Jeremiah is apparently a fan of tickles from pretty girls.
Whilst Astronaut falls back on the old tradition of hanging out to build a relationship.
All those little hearts can noly mean one thing; Mysterieuse has just bagger herself a first kiss.
Meanwhile, Sam and Dag are demonstrating where that slippery slope leads.
Dag: Oh come ON! You're sucking at this! You should do better if you want to date my daughter!
Crazy apparently decides to exercise indoors when it's snowing outside.
Dag: Woop woop! I am amazing at this!
Sol: Wow Mrs Yao. I've never seen such skills.
Sol seemingly knows what side her bread is buttered on.
Astronaut: ..and so my sister hates her.
Taking lessons from your twin are you?
...it seems to have worked for him though, so we'll let it slide.

D'aww. That makes the twins two for two on first kisses.
It wasn't until after his transition that I remembered I'd never got Sam's portrait done. Whoops! Luckily I had some screenshots I could make into a custom painting.

Astronaut: And then, the crazy old bag didn't even know how to work the television.
Crazy: Wow, high school sounds amazing!

Dag: Aw yeah, shake what your mama gave ya!
Dag: Waiting on a second hand pick me up, And I'm over, getting older ♫
Dag: I've still got it.
Avaline: My cutie radar is tingling...

Avaline: I like this idea.
Dag: I don't need some sheet telling me what to do!

Crazy gets the best birthday party of anyone so far.
Crazy: I feel all tingly...
We interrupt this birthday to announce: Sam Yao has reached his LTW.
With a bonus side of Avaline and Kato's father, Mati.

Bad lighting, but I think he's the best mix, and yet the most like Sam at the same time.
He rolls Pleasure/Knowledge - which is exactly the same as Mysterieuse - and likes Clean people in Makeup as long as they don't have Black Hair.

It's outing time! I've lost the shots of Astronaut asking them, but Mysterieuse, Avaline and Kato are all coming along.

(He's being honest - Astronaut just walked in at a bad time when Mati and Crazy were dancing.)
