Bicycles and Rain

So yesterday marked my first bicycle ride to work in the rain. I hadn't really given it too much through, other than grabbing a light jacket to keep the worst of it off. However, near the end of the ride it almost came crashing home to me that there are a few things to keep an eye out for, like remembering that brakes don't work as well when going down a steep hill. I started down this short but very steep stretch, only to have my back tire start gaining on my front, until I was actually sliding down the hill sideways. I managed to lean properly and not fall on my face, but it definately got the old adrenaline pumping.

Other than that there isn't much new in the world to report. I had all of last week off from work, which Kami and I used for takings trips over to see her parents and spend some more time with mine. We even went up to Paradise lodge on Mount Rainier for a day trip, and saw a good bit of the the still snow covered park. I got plenty of relaxation in too, which almost makes up for the fact that when I returned to work I discovered that no one had apparently volunteered to work on my projects while I was gone, so now several were severely behind. I'll have to plan my next vacation a little more in advance to keep that from happening.

Alright, that's all I've got, other than to say the new Disturbed album "Indestructible" is an amazingly powerful work. If you've never heard of them, I highly recommend checking out the titular track.
