Everything's Changing
Hai guys!
I am in posession of the tiniest of laptops and it looks like this:
It's so cute! Also, it runs on linux, which caused me some serious issues for about the first three hours. I had various boys toddling in and out, not quite sure how to deal with the increasingly weepy girl. I guess I'm used to having either parental types or geeks around. Apparently not a lot of people know an awful lot about linux, so I've been checking out online tutorials and such.
The kind of netbook I have is also configured to hide most/all of the higher functions, so if you think you know what you're doing with a computer, it's actually harder. THANKS! I eventually found a way to 'unlock' them though, and sorted out some imaging software and a bittorrent client. I'm not sure if I have a movie player though, or how the music player manages. More fun and frolics in the land of programming.
This evening, I should have been working on my dissertation, the article I'm writing for Amelia's Magazine, or my own (other) blog. Instead, I've been setting up my newest tiny child.
Other good news: job interview at Boho tomorrow, signing papers on a new house tomorrow, last day of the week tomorrow! Isn't life grand?
I feel a bit shitty since I've been sleeping on my friend's sofa for two weeks now. There's been some tension about me being in the house, which has been FUN, but not from anyone who lives here - they mostly seem indifferent to my presence, except Bex who likes me being here. On Saturday though, Chris moves out, so I can hole up in his room and GET SOME WORK DONE. This will be a new experience for me. However, I am making a lot of money this month, which will be nice. Money means having a roof over my head. Yay.
Going veggie is going well; I err on the vegan side of vegetarian. Very few of my meals are based around cheese or egg, though I did make an AWESOME goat's cheese and broccoli tart the other day. Made the pastry from scratch and all. Fookin' A.
I usually write better as it gets later...so I think I shall attempt to write some of my dissertation. Perfect!
