Intellectual Masturbation

In a discussion with an old friend in another venue, I referred to what I do here on LJ as 'Intellectual Masturbation'... which I think is an apt term for it. She reminded me that some times it's just jacking off, but sometimes it's good juicy porn.

Well, the last real conversation I had with anyone outside my family circle involved movies people had to see... I’m not talking about favorite, or best, but more about how they resonate with the collective unconscious. Also, mainstream films (like Ghostbusters) should be omitted...
