conversation after the hockey game, while sportsnet insisted on showing clips of Canucks' past triumphs:
Steph: This only makes me feel kind of sad about what just happened! If they really wanted to make us feel better they should show that fight of Bieksa's last season, where he's all hulking with his torn shirt.
me: That makes me feel better about most things.
Steph: I mean, I'm not even really that into Bieksa, but...
me: Well really, it could have been anyone. It could have been Rypien. It just brings out your primary instincts as a woman.
Steph: GIVE ME BABIES NOW.
Val: He does look like he could kill a lot of bison for you. With his bare hands.

holy crap I forgot about Burrows pulling the guy's hair wtf
Yesterday I went to the book sale at the library and picked up:
A Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess (50¢)
Oscar and Lucinda, by Peter Carey ($2)
Life After God, by Douglas Coupland (55¢)
Beloved, by Toni Morrison ($1)
Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck (50¢)
The Complete Book of Erotic Art: Vol. I and II ($2.25)
Pretty good haul for $6.80, I'd say. And you all totally just added up the individual prices to see if everything equaled out, didn't you?
After that I decided I needed a haircut so I popped into the first random place I found, which happened to be on Robson Street between Richards and Seymour. I was basically the only non-Asian person in there. But maaaan, Japanese salons treat you like a damn hell ass king! I was helped out of and into my jacket, had my bags carried for me, and best of all, sat in a chair that MASSAGED MY BUTT AND LOWER BACK while I got my hair washed. And I thought having someone else wash your hair was luxurious all by itself!
Speaking of luxury, few comforts compare to that of going to bed in clean sheets, fresh out of the dryer. And it's even more satisfying after you've had to wrangle the duvet back into its cover, like a toddler into a snowsuit.
I think I want to start a new notebook, in addition to my quotes one. This one will be full of lists. Whenever I think of something that might make a good list, I will write its title down on a page and then add items to the list as I see fit.
