*gasp* it's an introductory post

*waves* Hello, new people! There are (gulp) 14 more of you than there were several days ago. This is what happens when I participate in three (yes, three) friending memes in one weekend. (Of course, for future reference, it's not advisable to do this when lj isn't notifying me about comments, and I have to keep digging through several pages of comments to find mine in order to read what people say in response.)

Twenty Random Things About Me, However They Come to My Mind

1. I like lists. Many of my posts consist of lists. Even if it's just a random collection of whatever comes to my mind, I will turn it into a list.

2. I bite my nails. It's an unfortunate habit that I keep trying to break, but every time I make progress I just relapse again. It's quite sad when the nail that was long enough to stab someone with suddenly becomes a puny stub.

3. Comments are always wonderful, so long as they're grammatically sound and say something remotely intelligent.

4. I used to be addicted to regular cherry Chapstick-brand chapstick. Then I became allergic to it. Now I'm addicted to cool cherry Soft Lips.

5. I'm also addicted to Coca-Cola. No one should bother speaking to me in the morning before I've had my Coke.

6. Pride & Prejudice is a very pretty movie.

7. Everyone should watch Supernatural, although I suppose I can understand if you can't because you watch House at that time, although I manage to do it.

8. My grandmother on my father's side just died, leaving me with only my mother's parents for grandparents. We weren't close, but I still bawled at the funeral. When my mother uses the word "Grandma" I still instinctively ask which one.

9. I'm a sophomore at community college. Please don't hold this against me. I'm not stupid (or so I'm told by EVERYONE), I'm just lazy. I graduate in the spring with my associate's degree and then I'll transfer to a local four-year school to get my Bachelor's in English.

10. I'm currently jobless but looking to change that. Once I get a job I'm going to waste spend my money on an IPod.

11. The philosophy class I'm taking is my pride and joy, and I talk about my wonderful professor a lot. At least in RL I do. Here I just rant about how far behind I am on my assignments. My current subtitle (If a tree falls in the forest and there's no one around, does it make a sound?) will forever make me laugh hysterically as I think about discussing it in class.

12. I'm addicted to my Supernatural mood theme. On Thanksgiving I was so happy because I finally felt that I could use my "grateful" mood picture. In fact, I don't think that "impressed" aptly describes my current mood. Perhaps I'm impressed by the number of new friends I have. I don't know. I just like the picture (do you see Sam in the background, not wearing several layers for once?) and I figure it would be a nice one to have in a post that will be linked to from my userinfo.

13. Harry Potter, Supernatural, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, Grey's Anatomy, Angel, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer are all fandoms of mine that my parents don't know about. They're also completely unaware of the existence of this journal, although I think they'd be pretty stupid not to have any inclination that I was at least hiding something from them.

14. One of my newest ships is Gabrielle Delacour/Charlie Weasley from Harry Potter. I'm sure it's unfathomable to many of you, so I recommend that you read the following fics:
Valentines by literarylemming
Dragon Tamer by aliaspiral
To Catch a Dragon by aliaspiral
The Third Sunday by literarylemming

15. I write fanfic. I like drabbles and I was insane enough to sign up for Supernatural - General Series at drabbles100. All of my fanfic can be found at or archived at penandpencil02.

16. I just drew a total blank on what to write next. . .

17. One of my goals that pops up every year at this time is to write a cliche-free Christmas story. The problem is, of course, that it's the presence of precocious/sullen orphans, the real Santa Claus, benevolent strangers and other overused devices at Christmastime that make it a Christmas story.

18. I have a strange fondness for suicidal writers. Sylvia Plath, Virginia Woolf, and Anne Sexton all committed suicide and I love their works. (If you haven't read The Bell Jar yet, go do so.)

19. A common rant in my journal is about my lack of icons. My lack of job gets in the way of spending money on this, although I doubt things will change even when I do have a job. I'm rather frugal.

20. Last one! There's a mouse inside my house (yes, I know it rhymes). It showed up in my bedroom over the summer, and then it started popping up sporadically downstairs. Now we have collections of traps scattered all over the house and we still haven't caught the damn thing.

Any questions? Ask away!

I have a to-do list a mile long that's bringing on panic attacks (think pre-test hysteria, Melissa). I'm so behind in philosophy and Immanuel Kant is making me want to cry.
