5. Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, Locke & Key: Welcome to Lovecraft
I picked this up when I got to meet Joe in Seattle earlier this year. TBH, I'd completely forgotten he wrote a comic until he pulled a big stack close to sign during his event. Locke & Key is very different from his novels in many ways and very similar in others, but it's a ripping good horror tale, both in the psychological and supernatural sense. Also, it's a painfully accurate portrait of a family in transition after a sequence of horrific events and the death of their husband and father. Although the protagonists are teens/middle schoolers, it's most definitely not YA. Unless your YAs are into insanity, violent home invasions, nasty well-dwelling monsters and beating the shit out of people with shovels, that is.
