I wrote 6,000 words yesterday, all told, if you count the early early morning and then a new wordcount during the day proper. After a brief misstep in a setup scene that had me scratching my head, I deleted about 300 words and fixed the lead-in to the middle of the book. I ( Read more... )

How is that the words just come to you? and 6000??? weren't you completely wiped out after that? Geez, I'd need a hard-core nap after that writing jaunt!

Ooh, how are you liking "A Great and Terrible Beauty"? I'm reading the third book in the tril. I think all said, she wrote about 500,000 words with three books!

Well, I have a really detailed outline. /grin And yeah, I was pretty tired yesterday...it's like a full day of work at an outside-the-house job.

I'm really enjoying AGATB. Gemma's voice is strong and Libba does wonderful research and has a real knack for escalation, which is often missing in YA.

I can't outline. I feel boxed in with it. My characters have to move and grow with every touch of the keyboard.

I'm also an only child, and I'm writing about a brother and sister from a broken home. I wrote them hoping they seemed broken, but csinman told me they acted like perfectly normal siblings. :-( I'm not sure if that makes me glad to be an only child, or just not Sän's sister.
