How can anyone support a man who has (though not single-handedly) lead to unwarranted death?

Words are irrelevant. Action is a much more accurate judge of a man's character.

first off, it was simply an analogy, not a linking of the two. And second, are you saying that all of the lives lost in the name of god during the crusades were warranted? Or the slaughter of millions of Jews during the Holocaust?
