chapter three
Today there’s big news in every media, both television and newspaper.
The police have found a dead fifteen year old boy body hanging upside-down on the tree with a huge slice on his throat. From the autopsy’s result, the boy’s blood has been drained when he was still alive and that’s the cause of his death. It has been said that the crime scene took a place at Seoul Forest. It’s in his district, Junsu assumes. His mother looks frightened when she watches the news and at the breakfast time, she really forbids Junsu to go out until late. But, Junsu never takes that as an order. It’s his life, his decision. So, he will do what he wants. And he still wants to do his job.
On his way home, his mind has been stolen by Yoochun noona. He begins to think that maybe it's his fault. He said Yoochun is a mean girl.
Maybe at that time, Yoochun had a serious bad mood. Maybe she didn’t mean to do that.
Junsu snaps.
Oh, Junsu! Back to your sense, you deluded moron!
Yoochun noona is the mean one, not him! It’s her fault to push him on purpose! Junsu is innocent because what he has said is true. Yoochun noona is a rude egoist mean girl, isn’t she?
But… but what has happened after he’s crying and left Yoochun noona alone at the playground? Was Yoochun noona crying too because of his mean words? Was Yoochun noona trying to catch him for saying sorry and she tripped and her ankle was injured and she couldn’t walk and no one saved her and a bad person found her and… and the bad person was kidnapping her and and…
Junsu gasps.
What if his imagination is true?
Junsu just stands at the road on his way home at night after he finishes his job.
If he walks further, he will reach the playground and, truly, he’s really in dilemma.
He really wants to know that Yoochun noona is okay; sitting on his favorite swing and swings in a slow rhythm (Junsu also hopes Yoochun wears the clothes). But he’s in denial. He doesn’t want to be the one who surrenders. He doesn’t want shows himself and apologizes like he’s the one who has to be blamed.
Junsu exhales.
Maybe he will apologize next week. He can plan the strategy for the best way to apologize at home. He also will watch Korean Drama to learn more. Okay, that’s the best decision from now.
Junsu has already taken a footstep, avoiding the playground when unconsciously he steps on a dog’s tail. He gasps when he sees he steps on big yellow eyes, sharp teeth, saliva drooling dog and it growls at him.
Oh no.
Junsu wants to run, but he bets the dog will run faster than him and bites him before he can reach his home. What should I do? Junsu screams in his head.
“Good dog… be a nice dog…,” Junsu tries to calm down the dog. But it growls harder, and now the dog is barking at him.
His instinct tells him to run, so Junsu runs. He doesn’t care if the dog will catch him in the end, but it’s better to run than just wait to be bitten.
And by the way… why is he running to the playground?
“Yoochun noona!”
Junsu screams in relief when he finds Yoochun is sitting on the swing.
Maybe he’s crazy, but he thinks Yoochun noona’s skin looks more glowing than usual. He can smell Yoochun’s sweet scent although Junsu stands quite far from Yoochun. Her face looks fresher too. And her hair…. It becomes longer than yesterday. How can that happen?
“Help me! Please!” Junsu looks at his behind and the dog still runs after him.
Yoochun seems aware of the angry dog’s presence. She stands up from his swing.
Junsu shuts his eyes. The dog seems closer to him and he feels in the next second, the dog will pounce on him and bites him. His hands or his feet will be bitten, he will get rabies, and he will be handicapped for ever and ever… no, he’s not ready for that! He still love soccer and he needs his feet for-
Yoochun suddenly reaches his hand and pulls Junsu behind him. And before Junsu says something, Yoochun kicks the dog with his bare foot. Junsu’s draw drops. Yoochun noona is really strong! She even can kick the dog away and it bounces five meter far from them!
The dog looks terrified and after that it runs away.
“Are you okay?” Yoochun turns his head.
Junsu nods, gulping his own saliva. Gosh, that was close!
“Me and my friends used to do that to an aggressive dog because calming it with nice words won’t work at all.”
Junsu nods. So Yoochun ever had friends? But where did they go?
“If you find a furious dog just like that, you have to kick it hard,” Yoochun gives his advice and Junsu nods again.
“Thank you,” Junsu mumbles it. He really doesn’t want to admit that he is being saved by a girl, but really, without Yoochun maybe he’s at the hospital now for a serious injury.
“You’re welcome,” this time Yoochun smiles at him and makes Junsu’s heart stops. Yoochun noona’s smile is really cute.
“Even though you have saved me, don’t ever think that I’ve forgiven you!” Junsu tries to act like a real man, head lifts up a bit to show who’s the real boss.
“Forgiven me?” Yoochun frowns, looks annoyed, “What have I done to you?”
Junsu really wants to hit Yoochun’s head for being so dumb.
“For pushing me until I fell yesterday, of course!” Junsu snaps.
Hearing it, Yoochun snorts.
“You know what? If I were you, I would push you back instead of force you to apologize.”
Junsu snarls, “Why is it so hard for you just for say ‘I’m sorry’?”
“So do you. Why is it so hard for you to punch me back?”
“I would never hit a girl,” Junsu really mean it. He doesn’t want to hit girls in his life. Ever!
Yoochun gives his look at Junsu right in the eye, “I told you before. I am not a girl.”
“You are lying,” Junsu snorts.
“No, I’m not,” Yoochun folds his arms and says, “in fact, you are the one that lie to me.”
“What?” Junsu frowns.
“Look at yourself. Are you sure that you are a boy?” Yoochun smirks, “you are so weak and coward. You even hide yourself on my back. Are you sure you’re not a girl?”
Hearing it, Junsu blushes. Yeah, that’s right. He’s too afraid to fight the dog. He even hides on Yoochun noona’s back to protect himself. He used girl’s body as a shield!
“I will protect you with my own way,” Junsu finally says.
“With your own way?” this time, Yoochun asks back. What did this kid mean?
Junsu nods.
“Maybe I’m not as strong as you so I can’t protect your body,” Junsu exhales his breath and continues, “but I can protect your heart.”
Junsu’s words somehow make Yoochun startles. His brain stops working.
“My… heart?” Yoochun insensibly repeats Junsu’s word.
Heart? What is heart? Yoochun maybe had it a long time ago. He puts his right hand to his chest and he can’t feel anything thumping on there.
It has been so long... and somehow he misses it. He misses his thumping heartbeat.
“Yeah,” Junsu says, “I will protect your heart from anything dangerous. I will make your heart with love so you cannot feel hurt anymore.”
“Stop it. Your words make me sick,” Yoochun goes back to his swing and somehow he swings abruptly. He looks annoyed.
“Why?” Junsu follows him, “don’t you ever falling in love?”
“No,” Yoochun quickly answers. His swings faster.
“No? Not at all?” Junsu asks again. “When you are falling in love, you heart will be thumps frantically. You cannot control it and somehow you feel weak. After that your body will go numb. You can’t speak. You even can’t move your own body.”
Yoochun snorts, “Seems troublous.”
“Maybe it is,” Junsu adds, “but somehow you feel comfortable with it! You love it when you can’t control your own fasten heartbeat.”
“Is that so?” Yoochun never feels that feeling before.
Not even when he was alive. Somehow, he feels a very deep regret.
“How do you know that?” Yoochun asks. He stops swinging. “Do you ever falling in love, Junsu?”
Junsu stops speaking. He smiles so wide.
“Of course! I’ve been falling in love with many girls!”
Yoochun frowns, “many… girls?”
“Yeah! When I see them, I can’t stop looking at them!“
But no one can’t make my heart sooo hurt when I see you, Yoochun noona. You are the prettiest among them. And you are the most awesome girl that I’ve ever seen. You are so special!
Yoochun abruptly stands up from his swing, making Junsu stops blabbering.
“What’s wrong?” Junsu asks.
“I don’t like to hear it.”
“Why?” Junsu asks again.
Yoochun doesn’t answer Junsu’s question. Indeed, he walks further, leaving Junsu alone.
“Hey, where do you want to go?”
“Home,” Yoochun says shortly.
“Why so sudden?” Junsu stands up from his swing too and runs following Yoochun. “Hey, are you mad?”
Yoochun still doesn’t speak any words.
“Why? Why are you mad? Are you mad because of me?” Junsu keeps pouring Yoochun with questions.
“Are you mad because I said that I’ve been falling in love with many girls?” The last question makes
Yoochun’s steps stop. His back is facing Junsu.
“No, of course not,” Yoochun finally answers. “How can I mad because of those silly things?”
Yoochun said that he isn’t mad. But Junsu knows that Yoochun is mad because of him.
“If you are mad because I said that I’ve been falling in love with many girls, I can fall in love with you too. I can share my heart to you, you know?”
“What?” this time, Yoochun turns his body and he’s facing Junsu.
“I’m…” Junsu can feel his face becoming warmer. “I can share my heart to you. You are so adorable and somehow special.”
Junsu sees Yoochun’s face.
He never sees Yoochun’s eyes glowing in that way before. It’s so beautiful.
Yoochun parts his lips, wanting to tell something when somebody interrupts them.
“What are you doing, kid?!”
A grown up man suddenly grabs Yoochun wrist and pulls Yoochun’s body onto his. He looks so angry at Junsu. Who is he? Yoochun’s father?
“I… I just have a chat with Yoochun noona. I am his friend,” says Junsu.
“Yoochun-ah, are you okay?” without hearing Junsu’s confession, the man checks Yoochun face and body, make sure that Yoochun doesn’t have any scratches. He looks so worried.
“I’m okay, Yunho,” Yoochun says, “he’s not harmful. Calm down.”
The man named Yunho gives a glare to Junsu. Junsu swears that he looks so scary.
“Don’t you ever go near Yoochun again.”
Junsu doesn’t understand. Why does this man so protective to Yoochun?
“I don’t hurt Yoochun noona, sir. I-“
“Shut up!” Yunho shouts, making little Junsu frighten.
“Why are you behaving like this?” Yoochun protests, “I’m okay-“
“We have to go home now. Come on,” Yunho grabs Yoochun’s hand and guides him to walk away from the playground, leaving Junsu alone.
What’s going on….
