Now that we're getting close to the summer Olympics, it's time for me to obsess about my second favorite sport- artistic gymnastics.
Mens' US Nationals is under way right now, and I let out a resounding "BLOODYFUCKINGHELL!!!!1!" today when I found out my favorite, Paul Hamm,
broke a bone in his hand during prelims (which he kicked ass in, btw). For anyone who doesn't closely follow gym, you might remember Paul as the American All-Around winner in Athens who got caught in a judging controversy. After retiring post-Olys he's back, looking great, and going for a second Olympic title. But, of course, now we have the injury... *sigh* The good news is that, even though this injury will force him out of Olympic Trials, he is still pretty much a lock for the team. And if he can recover quickly, he may have enough time to get back into top shape by Athens.
Still, I'm going to be in major angst-mode for him for the next two months. Gah.
Womens' Nationals start June 5, and I'm extremely excited to follow the results of that competition. My two favorites are
Nastia Liukin and
Alicia Sacramone, and I'm pumped to see what ASac comes up with, since she has not competed yet this year.
*eeeee!*
