Have just come across a fic document named "thesexforfinancemovie.doc"

... man do I have problems with titles. And, right now, writing full-stop. Weirdly, the one thing I do have a title for is the screenplay I can't get going on. It had a title before it had a plot. Which is a hindrance now I'm trying to get the scene-by-scene written up, so I can get some real writing done. I am really not a plot person. Or, indeed, a deep and meaningful person. After long consideration, I have discovered this about myself. What I like most, is two characters in a room, talking. Or there can be more than two, it's fine. I like: handholding, snark, I love yous, the things you say and do when you can't say I love you, the calvary arriving, really sleeping together, making your own family, making your own destiny, serving the mission, kissing during the mission, stroking hair, mending bruises, mending fences, bad guys coming around, good guys learning how to bend, not pushing this til it breaks, being together at the end of the world, making a new world together, happy endings and leaving the room for them to happen.

None of this lends itself to a murder-ish mystery-ish involving a police department and artificial intelligence. Or, for that matter, novel idea number 4. Why oh why was I not blessed with the ability to plot? I'll trade my ability to roll my tongue?

Meme stolen from futuresoon:
What's the last thing you wrote?
The last thing I finished was Reputations for Destruction, the Dr Horrible/Captain Hammer fic. The last something I wrote was a section of the 'Heroes does Days of Future Past' fic.

Was it any good?
I quite like bits of the Dr Horrible fic. It's too early to tell on the Heroes one - I have no experience of Nathan-POV

What's the first thing you ever wrote that you still have?
Fic, or original? I have terribly Mary-Sued original stuff in a notebook from when I was 10 or 11. There may even be earlier bits around somewhere. The earliest fic thing I can find is from 2002.

Write poetry?
Have done, but not for a few years now.

Angsty poetry?
*g* I was a teenager, of course it was

Most fun character you ever wrote?
Umm.... good question. When I wrote him, I liked my!Blaise. I like Ianto's sense of humour, I like Zoe Carter giving her dad the runaround. I always like CJ :)

Most annoying character you ever wrote?
Annoying to get right? Andy Wyatt. Annoying in and of themselves, I don't really know. I tend to write characters because I want to get to know them, and that makes them bug me less.

Best plot you ever wrote?
Pssh, plot? I have no need of plot. ... Stars that clear (have been dead for years), has plot, though not a lot of it. Mostly it is dystopic angst, and I have no problems with that.

Coolest plot twist you ever wrote?
Seven for a Secret doesn't have a twist, exactly, but it has a plot point that I believe in wholeheartedly, canon assertion to the contrary notwithstanding.

How often do you get writer's block?
Nine out of ten things I write.

How do you fix it?
Put the story away and do something else/put on some TV in the background and write through it. Deadlines help.

Do you type or write by hand?
Mostly type, because it's easier to revise that way. I do carry a notebook though, so most of my bigger fics have some parts on paper somewhere.

Do you save everything you write?
Yup. Never know when I might need it.

Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it?
Well, Westward Look has been on and off for about six years. :(

What's your favorite thing that you've written?
Still This Wartime Morality. It's about theatre you guys! And I am easy.

What's everyone else's favorite thing that you've written?
Probably also This Wartime Morality? Going by comments anyway. Or maybe one of the Yuletide things, but I think that skews feedback count!

Do you ever show people your work?
All the time - I am a feedback whore. Though normally not before they're finished, because I don't tend to write in order.

Who's your favorite constructive critic?
I guess raedbard is the only one who normally gets anything early enough to feel comfortable fixing things for me! Maybe I should make it more clear that I'd be happy to get some?

Did you ever write a novel?
I have the beginnings of three on my computer, but none close to finished.

Have you ever written fantasy, sci-fi, or horror?
Not horror, but lots of fantasy and sci-fi.

Ever written romance or teen angsty drama?
Hmmm... most things I write have a pairing, but it depends how you define 'romance'. Nothing Harlequin-esque, to the best of my knowledge. But yeah, probably some teen stuff. I wrote Harry Potter, I've written Gossip Girl recently.

What's one genre you have never written, and probably never will?
Well, no full-on horror because I can't watch it. I'd say nothing in the crime-procedural arena, but this halted script is kind of a murder mystery. Though I'd still call it sci-fi first. I'm no good at fight scenes, so probably nothing action-adventure. Most everything I write is dialogue!

How many writing projects are you working on right now?
Officially? 10 or 15 fics that are enough in-progress that I can call them as such. And the screenplay. And a few longer original things.

Do you want to write for a living?
Absolutely. Seeing as no one will employ me to work in a theatre ;)

Have you ever won an award for your writing?
I had a short story place as a runner-up? Nothing in fanfic though.

Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper?
For school, way back when. And the aforementioned runner-up story I suppose.

Ever written something in script or play format?
Written, but not finished.

What is your favorite word?
*opens LJArchive* Discarding character names, and the really common words: okay, yeah, maybe. Man, my writing must be boring. Further down the list, we have 'office' (I write a lot of West Wing), smiled, pulled, and shirt. :) I like dream, and pure. Breath, warm, stroke, slide. Acquiescence, shine.

Do you ever write based on yourself?
I can't decide whether to say 'no, never' or 'everything I write must come from me eventually'. Characters do things I wouldn't, and think things I don't, but I'm the one who has to make them make sense.

Which of your characters most resembles you?
Sam, occasionally. Molly is me at that age. I identify with Tosh quite a lot.

Where do you get ideas for your characters?
Aside from the shows? I'm not that complicated, normally it's just wherever I am, whatever I'm watching or listening to. I move them from fandom to fandom quite a lot, to see what they'll do.

Do you ever write based on your dreams?
Not often, but I have done. I can't dream of my stories nearly as often as I'd like to.

Do you prefer happy endings, sad endings, or cliff-hangers?
Happy endings. Knowing something ends unhappily can in fact put me off reading it. Because I'm a wuss.

Have you ever written anything based on an artwork you've seen?
Not that I know of, but that doesn't mean I didn't.

Are you concerned with spelling and grammar as you write?
We-ell, I fix everything I notice, and I tend to edit every time I reread, so I guess so. Doesn't mean I catch it all.

Does music help you write?
I have playlists for most of my big fandoms, so I tend to have music on when I write. Either that or other TV/Film. Sometimes what I'm writing, but not necessarily.

Are people surprised and confused when they find out you write well?
I can't remember the last time I told someone I wrote that didn't already know. My family/friends/flist all do - I couldn't judge whether or not they were surprised. Or, indeed, whether they think I write well.

Today's dinner conversation:
Brother2: Did you see the new Heroes trailer?
Me: With Matt in a desert and Mohinder inexplicably flirting with women?
Brother2: *despairing nod* Not everyone is gay!
Me: Look, you have your show, and I have mine. I just find season two much more interesting if I read it as the epic gay love story of Matt and Mohinder raising Molly.
Brother2: *pauses to curse S2* *continues* It's more like the Odd Couple. Or Two and a Half Men. Except no one's related.
Me: Exactly! And does anyone choose to explain why else they're all living together?
Brother2: Matt was married!
Me: Yup. But his wife cheated on him and all, so really...
Dad: Most people don't watch the shows looking to-
Me: Oh, I'm not the only one! Plenty of people-
Mum: Mohinder's the Indian one?
Us: Yes
Mum: Yeah, I've seen two episodes of the show. He's gay.
