... why does my flatmate never leave, you guys? It's like he doesn't want me to eat/watch S2 of Leverage. I think he hates me.
Sign-ups for
dark_agenda's Racebending Revenge ficathon:
hereOn July 2, the live-action film version of Avatar: TLA opens. If you've missed the fannish outcry over the white-washing of the casting (using white actors for the three 'hero' leads and chromatic actors for the villians and background actors, ignoring the blatantly Asian-inspired source),
Racebending has the info. Dark_agenda is running a challenge to "Re-write one or more white characters in the fandom(s) of your choice as chromatic/non-white/PoC, in a story of at least 500 words, with some acknowledgment of how the racial difference would make a difference to the story being told." Stories to be posted/revealed on that day.
I... have not yet psyched myself up to sign-up. I hope to do so sometime soon, but this type of challenge hits many of my anxiety issues. Then, so did my lgbtfest and that seemed to go okay. I still think it's a great challenge, and a great fannish reaction to the fiasco of that film's casting. So go sign-up, I promise I'll be with you once I've talked myself into it!
My ficlets this week:
+
If Not Cursed, Certainly Supernaturally Unsightly [White Collar; Elizabeth/Peter/Neal; Neal thinks the lamp is cursed]
+
Consultancy Arrangement [Leverage/SG-1; Alec/Eliot; The SGC tries to borrow Hardison for a consultation. (Needs more Stargate. Sigh)]
+
Loud and Clear [Leverage; Alec; "Stop repeating everything, the ear-buds pick up the sound."]
+
The Architects [Iron Man movieverse; Tony/Pepper (I know!); the city of the future]
Also: do I want to sign up for the Leverage Big Bang? (
thebigbangjob). I have a vague story in mind, though not sure it's 20,000 words long. It's been ages since I wrote anything that long. But rough drafts aren't due until Oct 1st, and I've never done a big bang. Feels like a fannish experience to have before I die, yes?
